FAQs About the Barefoot & Free Yoga Festival

Get all of your questions answered about the 2025 Barefoot & Free Yoga Festival happening August 1st-3rd, 2025.

  • Where is the festival located?
    Two entrances:

Main festival entrance (all those arriving with weekend, day or VIP passes) will enter at 3500 N Wixom, Commerce Michigan 48382 Proud Lake Recreation Area also known on the map as River Hawk Lodge and Conference Center

Camping and Shala bunkhouse location: Walled lake outdoor center 3577 Sleeth Ct, Commerce Michigan 48382
  • What should I bring?
Bring a yoga mat, water bottle, journal and pen, extra clothes, bathing suit/ towel for swimming or sauna, bug spray, sunscreen, backpack, food optional, warmer clothes, hangout items ( ideas hammocks, blanket, chairs, beach things) . Your best open and free self!
  • What can I not bring?
Animals, drugs, alcohol, bad vibes, people that didn’t purchase a pass.
  • I am new to yoga, will I like this?
With over 100 teachers we offer so much more then yoga. In fact you could attend all weekend and never take a yoga class and have the best time! However we have the best teachers and they will cater to you and meet you where you are. The schedule will also say experience level encouraged if necessary!
  • What is there to do for my kids?
Kids love the festival! so many families come year after year and the kids love roaming free in the main area enjoying everything from the bounce house, to kids classes, to live music, participating in the talent shows, swimming in the river and proud lake, camping and enjoying the evening fires and trails, shopping the vendors and creating nature art. Plus kids care and SO much more! Its a chance for kids to unplug and see you as their caregivers do the same! It’s so fun and freeing!
  • How much walking? I heard it's a lot!
Like any big event parking is not right next to the activities. Our advice is get there early and give yourself plenty of time. We have shuttles and multiple lots -so it depends on time of day and luck :) Some things other people do is bring a bike and bike back and forth, bring a wagon to haul their things, carpool to make it fun! Think of it like going to Pine Knob or a big event in the city- walking is a must! Bring a good attitude!
  • What about parking?
NOTE:That the park requires a state park car pass - can be purchased on site but you may have it on your license renewal as well! If you park at the campground side you do not need the state park pass. That parking is for shala bunkhouse and campers only!!
  • Is there food and water?
We have an array of delicious healthy food available throughout the weekend - see our vendor lineup above. Food is available in the early morning Friday-Saturday - Sunday and though 10pm for dinner.

Nakee Butter Co. often stays late with the yummy snacks as well!

You are also welcome to bring your own food and drink.

We have drinking water available all weekend all hours.
  • What are the hours?
    Friday

Gates open at 9am, first class at 10:30am. Festival closes at 11pm.

    Saturday

Gates open at 7am, first classes at 7:30am & 8am. Festival closes at 11pm.

    Sunday

Gates open at 7am, first classes at 7:30am & 8am. Final closing workshop at 12pm. Festival closes at 1:30pm.

    - Note after closing each night only those with tickets to stay onsite are allowed, you are not allowed to park overnight at Proud Lake you will be ticketed, you cannot sleep in your car. The grounds are policed and patrolled and gates locked for the night at midnight.
  • What if the weather is bad?
Its the summer in Michigan !!!! We are 10 years in and so we have seen it all. It is rain or shine. Bring your raingear and a good attitude to roll with Mother Nature. * Note that most venues have rain protection so they go on as planned :) In the event of natural disaster we follow emergency protocol and we no outdoor events can go on in thunderstorms. But don’t worry the show goes on and there's even magic in the rain.
  • Do you offer refunds?
This is a nonrefundable event. We work diligently all year planning to make this extraordinary event possible. We realize things come up in life and we are compassionate to that. All passes are final but you are free to resell or gift your passes to whomever you like. We don't need a name change - they just need the name of the original ticket holder!
